Christ Brea is looking into buying an Interactive Board. Last year we purchased a Promethean for our 7th grade class. I want to purchase a second board this Summer. Our Principal (who is no longer here) prefered Promethean's (hence why we got one) but our Board of School Ministries prefers SmartBoards. I have been asked to pick between the two. Is there anyone out there that can tell be a big diffence between the two? I have visited forums and note the diffenece discussed is in the pens. What are your thoughts on Interactive boards? Is there another brand I should look into? Does anyone have a Smartboard Rep they would recomend?
I started with Intelliboard by Numonics. They seemed to work and look the same as Promethean. But since the price was about the same AND Promethean had a much larger overall school acceptance and usage, and the teachers wanted to go that way, We now have 12 Promethean boards. SMART boards use the finger to touch the board whereas Promethean and others like it do use the pen. I would not recommend using a variety on your campus as they can all share files if they use the same system.
Currently I have 1 Promeathean installed in our 7th grade and one being installed in our 8th grade. We plan to get another next Summer. I have a sales guy coming out who is going to demo a Polyvision Board. Apparently Polyvison has a device where all of the funtionality is in the Pen not the board. They say it is 100% compatible with the Promethean at less cost and easier installation. We will see.......
